James and Pam Johnson produce acoustic concerts in the folk, blues, jazz, soft rock, and Americana genres with original music by the singer-songwriter. Since 2010, we have had over 250 events with over 350 artists plus a few dogs on over ten different stages. We ran Thoreau Woods Coffeehouse in Huntsville, TX from 2010 - 2020. We are a smoke-free listening room. Suggested donation varies depending on artist but ranges from $20-35. We are non-profit and all money goes to the artists. We only take cash, but electronic payment information will be given to pay the artist directly.
We are members of Folk Alliance International and are an Official House Concert. We are also a member of the Listening Room Network.
Currently we have two venues: Johnson Studio House Concerts in our home in east Galveston, and Galveston Folk Family Concerts. The house concerts are private events and we only allow 25 people. To request attendance, email Pam at pjgalveston@gmail.com. Address will be given with acceptance. We open doors at 5:30, potluck at 6 pm, and concert at 7 pm.
Galveston Folk Family Concerts is a public concert series held at the UU Fellowship of Galveston County at 502 Church St. in Galveston (enter on 5th Street). Doors open at 6 pm, and concert is at 7 pm. Refreshments will be available for donation, BYOB. We do not take reservations or presell tickets.
We usually have one concert per month at either Galveston Folk Family Concerts OR Johnson Studio House Concerts. Click on artist name to go to the artist's webpage. You may add yourself to our email list for both venues on our Facebook page Johnson Studio House Concerts, or email Pam at pjgalveston@gmail.com. Call James at 936-661-6332 for more information.
